Introduction           

What is your favorite flavor? If you answered chocolate, you have something in common with most Americans! Whether it is in candy, cookies, milkshakes, coffee, cake or cereal, chocolate is a key ingredient in many delicious treats.  Despite its popularity, many people do not know the real story of chocolate.  In this WebQuest you will discover the botanical source of chocolate. You will explore the ecological connections between people, plants, insects and other animals within its habitat. You will learn about the people involved in growing and harvesting the plant as well as those of us who consume it. You will see how the chocolate market has changed over time and maybe you’ll even be involved in how the production and consumption of chocolate will change in the future.
